When planning my girls’ trip to Massachusetts, I started my search with IHG Hotels & Resorts in downtown Boston.
The InterContinental Boston caught my eye as the perfect luxury hotel and the best place to stay in Boston for walking. Located at 510 Atlantic Avenue Boston MA, the InterContinental Boston location is steps to attractions like the Boston Tea Party Museum, and James Hook & Company Seafood, and less than a 15-minute easy walk to the historic attractions.
I’ve been to Boston a few times and being able to stay in the city along the harborfront has been one of my favorite experiences to date.
This is my full InterContinental Boston review. Having stayed with IHG hotels in the past, it’s a wonderful option for luxury without the $400 a night price point.
This luxury hotel boasts an unbeatable location, unmatched amenities, and exceptional service.
About the InterContinental Boston
The InterContinental Boston is part of IHG Hotels & Resorts. Their 17 hotel brands include InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, Crowne Plaza, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, and Holiday Inn among others. In fact, they have one of my favorite ads right now, about living your best life.
This luxury hotel boasts an unbeatable location and extraordinary and friendly staff. As a guest, you’ll be able to take advantage of a range of amenities and features, such as an on-site spa, an indoor pool, and an in-house restaurant.
The hotel offers modern, spacious rooms. But the real highlight of this hotel is the staff, who ensured that my stay was both enjoyable and memorable.
Boston is a city rich in history, culture, and entertainment, making it a popular destination for travelers worldwide. InterContinental Boston hosted me in exchange for a review. All opinions are my own.
InterContinental Boston Location

If you’re wondering where to stay in Boston to walk everywhere, this is it.
When it comes to choosing a hotel, location is everything. Luckily, InterContinental Boston’s address is on the Boston waterfront, making it an ideal spot for both business and leisure travelers.
Steps away from the bustling Fort Point Channel, guests can enjoy stunning views of the Boston Harbor waterfront and easy access to popular attractions like the New England Aquarium, and Boston Children’s Museum. Just outside the back of the hotel is the Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum.
The hotel is also within walking distance of the Seaport District’s trendy bars, restaurants, and shops.
The hotel’s central location on the waterfront means it’s about a 15-minute walk from Boston’s top attractions. During my stay, I walked to the following attractions:
- Boston Common
- Freedom Trail
- Old State House
- Old North Church
- Paul Revere House
- Faneuil Hall
I visited many other places such as the Boston Public Garden in between my walks as well.
Public transportation such as the subway, buses, and ride share is also readily available and a short walk away. However, most of the time I found it quicker to walk.
With such a prime location, InterContinental Boston truly offers the best of the city at its guests’ fingertips. But the location is just the beginning of what makes this hotel stand out. Next, let’s look at the luxurious rooms and suites that await at InterContinental Boston.
InterContinental Boston Rooms

At InterContinental Boston, guests are treated to luxurious accommodations that are both comfortable and stylish. Recently renovated in 2022, the rooms are spacious and extremely comfortable.
Each room and suite is furnished with elegant decor and plush bedding, ensuring a good night’s sleep for all who stay.
Besides getting a good night’s sleep (especially after logging plenty of steps around Boston), my favorite thing is the spacious desk facing the window and the lounge chair at the end of the bed.

As a writer, I am often traveling with a laptop. It’s nice to have a space to spread out my laptop, gear, and even souvenirs on the wide desk. Plus, the stunning skyline view of the city is always inspiring.
Often, when I am visiting a city such as Boston, I want to see everything I can, morning to night. However, during this trip, I couldn’t wait to return to my room to relax on the chaise lounge, soak in the tub, or curl up in bed to binge-watch Ted Lasso.
But it’s not just the visual aesthetics and comfortable bedding that make the rooms at InterContinental Boston exceptional. State-of-the-art technology including flat-screen TVs and high-speed Wi-Fi keeps guests connected and entertained during their stay.
Additionally, each room comes equipped with a coffeemaker and mini-bar, providing the convenience of having everything needed for a comfortable stay right at your fingertips. I was able to request a mini-fridge to be brought to my room as well.
With unbeatable luxury amenities to come, there’s no doubt that InterContinental Boston is truly the best hotel in Boston.
InterContinental Boston Amenities

For travelers seeking the ultimate in luxury, InterContinental Boston’s spa and pool exceed expectations with a range of indulgent amenities. Whether it’s a relaxing day at the spa or a day spent lounging by the indoor pool, there’s something for every type of guest.
For those who enjoy a good workout, the state-of-the-art fitness center with Peloton bikes is the perfect place to stay in shape.
And for those who crave a little more rest and relaxation, the steam room and sauna offer the perfect retreat. Intercontinental Boston Spa hours are typically 10am to 5pm, but may vary. Check with the front desk when you check in.
And if you’re searching for info about the Intercontinental Boston Pool. Let me tell you this topped my list for the best Boston hotels with pools for the view!
But it’s not just the facilities that make InterContinental Boston stand out. The hotel’s attentive staff goes above and beyond to ensure that each guest’s stay is nothing short of extraordinary. Every staff member I encountered was smiling, pleasant, and accommodating to any request I had.
Here is where the little touches stand out. During my visit, it was cold and drizzling rain towards the end of one of my days walking. It was a treat to return to the hotel with piping hot chocolate and warm chocolate chip cookies available in the lobby.
In addition to the unbeatable luxury amenities, InterContinental Boston also offers world-class dining options.
InterContinental Boston Restaurants

Besides the unbeatable luxury amenities, InterContinental Boston also offers world-class dining options.
With two distinct dining experiences, each with unique flavor and ambiance, guests can indulge in a culinary journey without ever leaving the hotel.
Miel Brasserie serves up French-inspired cuisine with locally sourced ingredients. My favorite offer is the InterContinental Boston breakfast buffet, loaded with all your favorites and classic breakfast foods. The restaurant steps it up a notch with freshly baked pastries including large flaky croissants. The smoked salmon with red onions and capers was a delicious treat on the buffet.
RumBa, the hotel’s vibrant rum and champagne bar, offers a casual atmosphere with a wide selection of rums from around the world. When the weather warms, I’d recommend a cocktail on the nearby patio overlooking the Tea Party Ships on the Fort Point Channel.
Room service also offers a full selection of dining options.

InterContinental Boston Parking
I’d recommend parking your car if you have one, and leaving it for the duration of your stay at the InterContinental Boston. On-site valet parking is available for $55 per 24 hours. However, right around the corner, the VPNE Atlantic Wharf parking had parking for the weekend at $19. It’s worth looking at what is nearby through apps like Parkopedia.
InterContinental Boston Reviews
Don’t just take my word for it. Here are some reviews.
“Extended a business trip to enjoy the city for St. Patrick’s Day, but it was a whirlwind trip that we wished we had more time. The hotel was fantastic! Great location, Great service, a Great room, Great bed that was so comfy. The amenities in the room were great. We were able to walk to most areas we wanted to explore. The bar was very nice and the drinks we ordered were delicious. Our only drawback is that we didn’t have more time to enjoy this wonderful property.”
“One of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at (out of hundreds)… beautiful facility and room. The staff is as friendly as it gets. Was inspiring to go down to the lobby in the morning and the bar was lively at night. All that comes at a cost, but worth it.
The staff was amazing from check in to check out and numerous questions in between the location of this hotel made so many things walkable and really, able to enjoy the city rooms were clean.
Overall, InterContinental Boston’s exceptional service truly sets it apart from other hotels in the city. And with so many top things to do nearby, this is one of the best places to stay in Boston for your next trip.
