Harvested in the heart of the flower district, the Hotel Hayden in New York City is a charming escape from the buzz of the city, yet still centrally located in Manhattan to be in the center of it all.
The Hotel Hayden provided a complimentary stay in exchange for our review. All opinions are my own.
The Hotel Hayden
Located in the Chelsea Flower District, the Hotel Hayden is a recently rebranded boutique hotel with 122 guest rooms and suites.
The hotel decor is luxurious fabrics, sleek lines, and rich sumptuous colors that blend in perfectly with the surrounding Chelsea flower district.
A beautiful Greek seaside restaurant is located inside of the Hotel Hayden, Mykonos Blue. The restaurant offers everything from small plates to entrees with traditional Greek fare with an emphasis on seafood. Open for lunch and dinner, the hotel also offers full-service breakfasts in the restaurant as well.
At the time of our stay, the hotel did not have a liquor license and the rooftop bar was open sporadically. This may have changed, so please check with the hotel directly. Because of this, we did not get a chance to visit the rooftop during our stay.
Hotel Hayden provides WiFi, a fitness studio, business center and is pet-friendly. The website lists that self-parking is available, but please note that it’s not parking at the hotel itself.

We stayed on the 18th floor in the Chelsea King Junior Suite. The spacious room features a fold-out sofa bed, two chairs, a king-size bed, along with a full-size bathroom and a cocktail bar area.
The room is decorated in a minimalistic style with contemporary accent pieces. I enjoyed the muted blues and clean lines throughout the room. This certainly didn’t feel like a cookie-cutter hotel.
Our king-sized bed was comfortable and we slept well both nights. The modern sofa was not your typical fold-out sofa for extra sleeping space. In fact, it’s more a fold over. It did take us a few minutes to learn how to flip it in order to provide ample sleeping space for the kids. However, once we did, it provided more sleeping room than a typical sofa bed would.
Inside the closet is a stocked mini-bar. And while it was full, my husband and I were able to find some room to store our snacks and local brews we purchased.
Side note – a bottle of champagne was open in our mini-bar. We alerted the front desk and this was not charged to our room.
A note about the bathroom
While the shower and bathroom area are ADA compliant, we found it to be not as safe as one might want. The shower footprint is a bit narrow, and with no door, water goes further than the shower floor. While this is great for wheelchair accessibility, it is not great for bare feet and slippery floors. I believe it to be because of the modern wider shower head, that’s not as focused as the flexible portable shower head.
Additionally, we were four people and our bath was only stocked with enough towels for three. Each day we had to request more towels. Additionally, our toiletries did not include shampoo and we had to request that item as well.
The room itself was comfortable and stylish. The staff, also, were very friendly and helpful with each request.

I absolutely adored the location. The Hotel Hayden is located on 28th St, between 6th and 7th avenues.
We could easily walk to the Herald Square, Madison Square Garden, the High Line, the Flatiron, and Empire State Buildings. A subway station is at the end of the block, and the 1 line took us straight into Times Square or Central Park if we didn’t feel like walking.
Plus, the Hotel Hayden is located in the Chelsea Flower District. Each morning we walked among many blooms, plants, and trees set along the sidewalks for sale. It’s such a great way to start your day in New York City.
