It might be back to school soon, but there’s still plenty of time to grab a quick trip to the beach, an amusement park or out for a hike. I like to keep these 5 Items packed at all times, so we are always ready to travel for a day trip whenever the mood strikes us. We simply throw some more food and an ice pack in the cooler and we’re ready to go. If we need refills, a quick trip to Walgreens and we’re on our way.
I like to stock up on BODYARMOR SuperDrink at Walgreens so we have plenty to grab on our way out the door. Living in Florida, it gets super hot. It’s nice to have a drink that provides potassium-packed electrolytes for me and my family without any artificial sweeteners. Hydration is key here people! In fact, my favorite part of the BODYARMOR is that it’s made with 10% Coconut water, so I know it’s nourishing for me as well. If you want to avoid artificial sweeteners and colors that are found in other sports drinks, go with BODYARMOR. Looking for low-cal? BODYARMOR LYTE has only 20 calories and 3 grams of sugar per serving. BODYARMOR Sports Drink now comes in 12 flavors: Strawberry Banana, Orange Mango, Lemonade, Fruit Punch, Tropical Punch, Blackout Berry, Mixed Berry, Grape, Pineapple Coconut, Watermelon Strawberry, Knockout Punch and Octagon Orange. We have to have a way to keep all those drinks cold, right? I actually keep a stash of drinks in a soft-sided cooler pictured above. That way, it’s easy to grab an ice pack from the freezer and we’re on our way. I might keep some room for lunch if we won’t be able to buy lunch where we’re going or want to save money. A smaller size like this is much easier to manage than our typical long-haul road trip.
A sun hat is key in Florida. Even if you don’t live in the Sunshine State, have a hat on hand that you can grab no matter where you’re going. If you’re going to the beach, a picnic spot, or out for a hiking, protect yourself from those harmful rays.
Speaking of sun protection, we have sunscreen stashed everywhere. In the house, in the car, and yes, in our ready-to-go bag. Make sure you have sunscreen no matter what time of year or where you live. I even keep the sunscreen in the cooler for a cool blast at the beach when it’s time to reapply.
Baby Wipes and Towel
We have kids, right? They get dirty. right? Long after my kids outgrew the need for baby wipes, we still had baby wipes. It’s perfect to clean up after lunch if you don’t have access to a water source, wash off sunscreen from your hands, and especially to scrub dirty faces and feet. Along with that, it’s helpful to keep a towel handy. Even if we don’t plan for the beach, we may still wade our toes in the water somewhere. And when my kids were little, a splash park was almost always on the agenda!
That’s all it takes to be ready for a day trip. We like to sneak in travel as much as possible, so when the mood strikes, we’re ready to go. What preparations do you have in place for a day trip? comment and let me know!
