The US is home to endless attractions and sites. People from around the world and across states flock to different areas of the USA in order to experience its wealth of natural beauty, world renowned cities and other appealing benefits. Of course, with 50 states to choose from, and even more cities to explore within those states, it can be hard to decide which places you want to go. The solution? Creating your own, tailored US bucket list, packed with destinations that personally appeal to you and meet your individual needs and preferences. Here are some suggestions to help start your planning!

San Francisco, CA

San Francisco is a major world city located in the northern part of California, between the Pacific Ocean and the San Francisco Bay. It is home to the Golden Gate Bridge, one of the most instantly recognizable bridges and pieces of architecture in general in the world. Visit the bridge, as well as Golden Gate Park for views you usually see printed on canvases or framed. From San Francisco, you can visit Alcatraz Island. This is a small island in San Francisco Bay, 1.25 miles (or 2.01 km) offshore from San Francisco. Built in 1849, this island fortress was originally created as defense against foreign invasion of San Francisco which had become a popular destination during the gold rush. It is perhaps best known for its historic, high security prison.

Zionsville, IN

Want a quieter retreat? The buzz of the city can make a great break, but sometimes, we want to take a step back from busy schedules and let our hair down a little. This is where a suburbs trip could give you exactly what you need. Staying in Zionsville Indiana allows you to stay in one of America’s safest destinations. You won’t have a worry on your mind. Located in the extreme southeast area of Boone County, Zionsville holds a lot of small-town charm, with plenty of local eateries to choose from. In terms of activities, enjoy scenic nature trails as you get a breath of fresh air. If you like a good glass of wine, you can visit the Hopwood Cellar to learn more about this ancient drink and to try a few varieties yourself. Using only the best grapes from Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana, you’re bound to find a bottle that ticks all of your boxes.

Kauai, HI

Kauai is Hawaii’s, fourth largest island and provides immense natural beauty to enjoy. Though all of the Hawaiian islands are beautiful, Kauai definitely has its own, individual charm. Believe it or not, Kauai has strict building restrictions and limits on the size of any buildings being constructed, meaning that none of them can stand any taller than a coconut palm tree. This makes sure that everyone has great access to unspoiled, beautiful views spanning out from the island’s white sand beaches. To get out and about, you can visit Koke’e State Park or the Wailua River State Park on the inland parts of the island. This is a costly destination, but definitely worth considering if you’re willing to save for your big break.

These are just three destinations that you might want to add to your US bucket list, but they should get the ball rolling and you’ll notice your list growing larger by the day!
