Discover all the best places for the whole family in Koh Samui!

Almost directly south of Bangkok, you will find the breathtakingly beautiful island of Koh Samui, which above all else is jam-packed with beautiful golden sandy beaches, which are ideal for a family day.

In particular, Silent Beach in the Maenam Beach area is a great choice for families with its warm turquoise water that isn’t too deep. Maenam Beach has a very tropical feel too and there are plenty of great restaurants and bars along its length where you can get cool drinks, and snacks to keep the whole family happy. It usually doesn’t get too busy easily so you can spread out and the kids can run around and let off some steam without bothering anyone.

Family Fun

In addition to the many beautiful beaches that Koh Samui has to offer, you will also find a range of activities that are perfect for the whole family.

The first of these is the once-in-a-lifetime experience of the Samui Elephant Sanctuary, where you can get up close and personal with the rescued pachyderms. You can even feed them and watch them take a bath, which as you may imagine can have some hilarious results!

Another activity that the kids are bound to enjoy is the fabulous Paradise Park. There you will find parrots and all manner of other vibrant and colorful birds, as well as lizards and deer. All of which the children can feed. Paradise Park also has a large infinity pool with views out across a lunch green valley which guests are welcome to use during their visit, and the whole family can use to cool off.

Where to stay

There is a range of accommodation options on Koh Samui. The most basic are the cabins on the beach that will set you back around £15 a night. These tend to have little more than beds, and sometimes include access to a small shared pool, something that means they’re not ideal for families traveling together for more than a night or two.

However, if you want to guarantee supreme comfort for your whole family during the entirety of your stay, why not consider the intercontinental Koh Samui resorts which offer exclusive and secluded luxury. Indeed, at intercontinental Koh Samui Resort, you can enjoy their infinity pools, head to the spa, or even sample a delicious afternoon tea served in an ornate birdcage while you look out over the ocean.

Intercontinental Koh Samui Resort even has its own kids club, a purpose-built air-conditioned and supervised facility stocked with toys, media, and where your little ones can have fun making friends and doing crafts, while you get an all-important taste of me-time!

Where to eat

Last, of all, there are plenty of child-friendly places to eat on Koh Samui. If the kids are craving western fare, then somewhere like The Hungry Wolf with its pizzas, burgers, and fries is a great choice.

However, if you are looking to have a more culturally authentic experience as a family, then Mr. KAI Kitchen offers a wide range of freshly made curries, rice, stir-fries, and Thai omelets in a clean location, and at a great price.
