If you travel often and far you might have noticed how flights affect your skin in different ways. Today we’re taking a look at how to take care of your skin on long-distance flights.

We can’t help you with the air on the plane, the stress of traveling, the few hours of sleep and the unhealthy meals you eat days before a trip, but we can give you some tips so that you at least don’t worry about your skin when you land.

Before the Flight

1. Enjoy a long sleep that rejuvenates you

If you get little sleep, the immune system is weakened. Getting a good night’s sleep before traveling will help you feel more relaxed and energized. Pamper yourself and relax the day before by taking a bath, do a yoga session or start reading a good book. In this way you will start the holidays better.

2. Drink plenty of water and prepare something good to snack on

Airplane air, in addition to being bad for your skin, can contribute to your body becoming dehydrated. Don’t drink alcohol, and don’t eat salty or sugary snacks. Bring some dried fruit; they will give you energy that is released slowly without increasing sugar levels or dehydrating you even more.

3. Prepare your skin for the trip

Prepare your skin days before flying. Use an intensive moisturizer to ensure skin’s hydration levels are at their highest and ready to deal with the cabin air. Moisturizing and regenerating creams such as the Frezyderm products at fotopharmacy.com are great for this.

4. Keep in mind the rules of hand luggage

Carry the essentials for the flight in your hand luggage, check the maximum measurements for liquids allowed. As a general rule, take only travel-size products that do not exceed 100ml. All your products must fit in a transparent and re-sealable plastic bag of about 20×20 cm and, in total, must not contain more than 1 liter of liquids.

5. Take all your beauty essentials with you in a travel size

Take all your favorite products in mini format, from Bath Gels, to Shampoo, Gentle Eye Make-up Remover, Protective Lotion…. that comply with the regulations of most airlines so you have nothing to worry about while going through airport security.

On the Flight

1. Put on a high-flying mask

Single-use fabric masks are ideal for pampering and nourishing the skin on the plane. They weigh nothing in your luggage and you don’t have to rinse your face after using them. They are perfect for pampering your skin and relaxing while you enjoy your flight.

2. Moisturize

Drink water during the flight and apply moisturizing products to keep your skin soft and with good levels of hydration. Protect your lips from drying out in the dry air on the plane.

3. Relax

Try to sleep, even if it’s only for a few hours. Buy a travel pillow at the airport if you don’t already have one, put on your most comfortable clothes and ask for a blanket. If you still struggle, try earplugs and an eye mask to help block out light and noise.

After the Flight

1. Prepare for landing

Do your plans start the moment you land? Apply travel makeup that’s gentle on your skin after you fly and can be applied instantly. Moisturize the lips and give them a touch of color.

2. Pampering and Relaxing when you return home

After a week or two of indulging in food, enjoying the occasional cocktail and taking advantage of the sun’s rays. Once you get home, drink a glass of hot water mixed with the juice of half a lemon to help you eliminate toxins. Use an exfoliant to help remove impurities, refine the appearance of pores, and leave the skin looking healthy and radiant.
